A Midsummer Night's Toad Dream | Finkenau Jubilee (I)

This was made for the 100-year-jubilee of the former woman's hospital Finkenau in Hamburg, Germany, which is an art school today (2015). This is an extract of a rather bizarre comic adaption of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream with toads as protagonists.

Why toads? Toads were used in the Galli-Mainini-Test to determine whether a woman was pregnant or not. And the doctors used to chase these toads just outside the building.

Green Ink on paper plus pencil.

The book concept and layout was done by Edda Glaser. Compilation of the book by Prof. Wenzel and Prof. Willaschek.
