Better to be good than original.

This is a carry over from a conversation on Twitter about originality. My response... The best I hope for, is to be able to combine a little of my own voice in my work, fully aware that many others have shaped my world view. Would I believe what I believe if it weren't for my Mom & Dad? Would I know what I know if it weren't for my teachers, friends, coaches and life experiences?

I love certain typefaces, grids, geometric shapes— all things I didn't create. I borrow, combine and mix all my influences together while acknowledging the whole time that none of it is mine to claim or keep. This has been the secret to my own personal growth. Personal growth is where I focus my energy.
