36 Mountains sketchbook 2017 // Das Gartenspiel
My work for 2017 edition of 36 Mountains Festival - this year sketchbooks were made with tracing paper and selected artists were asked to fill them up with b&w drawings. I started building up the drawing from elements "collected" during my stay at the island of Lošinj in the beginning of the summer and continued by adding different fragments, scenes and characters that were popping in my mind while working on it, with kind of panoramic scenery of playing in a garden/nature as the general idea. Result is full of unusual and peculiar elements, contrasts, absurdities, botany, some astronomy, few curses and an elephant.
(Also, both sides are playing - tracing paper really made it interesting to work on the back side, as well, and gave great interplay of layers of drawing when pages overlap!)
