ZOON APOLITIKON – apolitična životinja; prema terminu zoon politikon, kojim je Aristotel čovjeka definirao kao političku životinju / društveno biće, određeno vlastitom društvenošću, koje oblikuje zajednicu i na nju je upućeno; suprotno tome, zoon apolitikon, iako se smatra društvenim bićem, ne pokazuje interes za aktivno uključivanje u oblikovanje zajednice niti stvarno razumijevanje procesa tog oblikovanja. Prednost daje površnom djelovanju i informacijama, nastojeći ostvariti što ugodniju i lagodniju egzistenciju unutar zadanih mogućnosti.
Upravljanje društvom prepušta skupinama okupljenima oko ambicioznih pojedinaca koji tu ulogu nerijetko koriste kao alat za ostvarenje vlastitih interesa, usputno preoblikujući zajednicu zoona (a)politikona.

ZOON APOLITIKON – an apolitical animal; based on Aristotle's concept of man as a political animal, defined by its need for being a part of society and role in it, building and forming it; on the other hand, zoon apolitikon, while seeing itself as a sociable creature, doesn't express any significant interest or active participation in processes of forming his society, not really understanding that processes as well. It gives priority to superficial actions and informations, trying to achieve existence as easy and comfortable as the given situation allows.
ON CONCEPT // Idea was to produce a visual metaphor of "zoon apolitikon" or apolitical being. In Croatia we often use term of "ficus plant" for politicians and people who are just decorative figures with no real significance or influence, or those avoiding any kind of involvement or responsibility - well, who act as passive as a plant.
Whoever has any idea or info about recent political events all around the world, might easily see being indifferent or acting "apolitical" for any given reason doesn't really help with changing things to better. It is important to involve at least by learning and informing, building up a worldview from relevant and proven facts, to become responsible citizens that can really form their society (and society of Earth) with consciousness and idea of well-being for everyone.
Rejecting the opportunity to utilize what was fought for over centuries is kind of picking to be a stemless plant to me - great, concentrate on your shiny leaves, but there should still be something they can grow on.

The original drawing of plant was based on botanical illustration of India rubber plant (ficus elastica), made as a watercolor painting on paper. I decided for more abstract approach, leaving plants' leaves as half-controlled watercolor stains with all their watery charm.
