2015

Rooms For Africa is an accommodations booking website based in South Africa. The website was created in about 2005 and definitely needed an overall update ten years later. I put this forward to the directors who saw this as an opportunity to engage a new set of users and grow their audience. One of the problems that they faced was that a certain percentage of users were not completing their booking.

As a result the main goals with the re-design were to engage new users and to get existing users to complete their bookings process. UI/UX improvements for the new design were decided on by using mostly internal statistic reports, Google Analytics and heat-map technology. We did competitor research, spoke to the reservation consultants and interviewed users about their experiences. Next we focused on drawing up wire-frames, improving and simplifying the user flow between pages and developing high-fidelity prototypes. I spent a lot of time collaborating with the directors and marketing team to perfect the final action buttons, search functionality and UI touches.

A/B testing was done to test the new design and the results were very positive!
