Artist's Exhibition - display stands

In the plight of the refugee crisis, UNHCR commissioned Nepali artist Sujan Dangol to create a series of drawings for which custom exhibiting stands were created.

The artworks were a reflection of his experience in creating an artwork for the Kathmandu Triennale along with the refugees settled Nepal.

For this exhibition, the artist wanted to display the artworks in a way that complimented his illustrative style while communicating the challenges faced by the refugees in creating a new life in a foreign land.
The design of the exhibiting stands placed the framed artworks behind a grill to obstruct the viewing. This intervention forced the audience to put in an extra effort to view the artwork, creating an experience of discomfort and hinderance in viewing which was a direct reflection to the lives of the refugees.
