The Phoenix data vault was developed by Axxana to be a near-indestructible data recovery system, designed to keep information safe in almost any scenario, from a raging fire to a collapsing building.
The design challenge with this project, done at Tiko product design studio, first of all, was to address the sheer size of the product: at 60 centimeters wide and over 120 centimeters tall, it's a formidable object and it was clear that it cannot have any PC- like visual features, which are by and large not stylistically scalable. This is a formidable, high end product and it had to look the job, therefore, the goal was to develop a dramatic and confident design. The facade is arranged around the main ventilation intake, accentuating the functional simplicity and strength, and the architectonic-inspired ripple pattern adds the necessary confident dynamism.
