Camp Kidventure Spot

What an adventure.  I knew for a few weeks that I'd be working on a project to promote The Ridge's upcoming Camp Kidventure, but I didn't know much about it other than Josh Crum, whom I hadn't worked with yet, was writing the script and I'd be needed to shoot and edit when the time came.
Let me pause to tell you a bit about Josh: you can see him coming in the dark with his vibrant shoes and he discovered all of your music before you.
We decided it made the most sense for us to ride together from the office in his car, but neither of us actually knew where the location was.  We ended up taking the wrong gravel drive and found ourselves on someone else's private property.  We headed back down and at the end of this drive was another gravel road that looked like a service road for the power lines it lay parallel to.  I convinced Josh we should at least try it.  He overestimated the cornering ability of his car and the front passenger wheel went off the gravel and sank into the mud.
That's when he confessed it was a rental.
We carefully climbed out after no luck backing out.  I suggested we put gravel from the road under the tire in question to add traction (like kitty litter on ice).  We got a fair amount under the wheel and he tried backing out again.  It gripped the gravel and the car lurched back a few inches before slipping.  I went to grab more gravel, but Josh had an idea...
"Maybe if I go forward, I can get enough momentum to swing back up."
"You'll just sink the other wheel."
"No, I think it'll work."
It didn't work.
Fortunately, a couple of guys from The Ridge were driving by in a truck and recognized Josh.  They also happened to have a tow strap and pulled the car out of the mud.  We were now saved, muddy, and half an hour late.  Fortunately, we worked well together and made up a lot of time, shooting as few takes as possible, because the family we were filming had a practice immediately after.  We finished 7 minutes over.
Afterward, Josh asked if I'd mind if we went through a car wash to get his rental cleaned before heading back.  I had nowhere to be, so I agreed.  Trapped in the car together, we started getting to know one another.  We talked about music and movies and found out we both have a bit of a crush on Christopher Nolan.
Just another day interning at The Ridge.
