Folding a Crane Bird with Ellie

Practising your Origami Skills with Ellie
It all started with the idea of doing something with geometry, shapes and bright colours. But I like things to have a reason, a meaning or even a purpose if you'd like. So I wanted to take the design a step further than just randomly playing with shapes and colour.

By going for a square card, we could use the actual folding lines of an origami shape as a pattern and add like that a little DIY touch to the birth announcement.

We chose the familiar crane bird because of it's simple beauty when folded and intriguing pattern when unfolded. To keep the overall design fresh, I chose not to work symmetrical but to highlight certain folds and shapes instead. The main card is printed on thick paper, and the invitation to the babyshower on 100g for a maximum folding pleasure. :)
In addition to the paper version a mini website www.vouwenmetellie.be was created where you can print out multiple copies of the design and where you can also find a tutorial for everyone new to origami.
>> Give it a try yourself and let me know how it worked out. :) #vouwenmetellie #madeinmeadow
Endless reproduct possibilities with this design. As Ellie is the daughter of a good friend of mine, me and a other friend joined forces and went crazy in birth gifts for this 'petite mademoiselle'. We've ordered a cushion and four plastic plates with this colour bomb pattern for the entire family to enjoy! Woop woop!
