BIBLIOTECA NACIONAL MARIANO MORENO
Visual Identity Proposal
The National Library in Buenos Aires (Biblioteca Nacional Mariano Moreno) is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. First founded in 1810 as the Public Library of Buenos Aires, it changed its name at it is known today in 1884. The library worked in various places around the city until the new building was designed in 1961 and finished in 1992. The building is a great example of brutalist architecture around the world.

The library made a contest to provide the institution with a new logotype. The proposal didn't get elected but the project was interesting to develop. I was trying to conceive a very modern approach where the logo could "talk" to the building about the fact that even after 200 years of history there is something to push forward. The historic baggage was there, but a more classic solution like a monogram felt out of place with the nature of the building and the space. I carry on developing some graphic material to complete the identity idea on how a modern library should look and feel.
