Just Press The Button
Allegra Martin
Just Press The Button is a photographic book that present the previously unseen personal shoots of the italian photographer Allegra Martin, designed during a course at Isia Urbino as one of the 13 books of Cluster Exhibition.
Allegra started these series as an exercise, trying to free herself from mental schemes,
to go back to an instinctive, unprojected photography. As the 1888 Kodak slogan:
“You press the button, we do the rest”. That’s the reason the shoots were all taken
with disposable cameras and low quality rolls, in personal life moments.
As her photos go back to a primitive way of shooting, the book go back to a primitive
way of bookmaking. We took away everything: no binding, no pages order, no cover.
Just big size printed photos, one Silk-screened cardboard with colophon and one big orange rubber band. So the pages order, including the cover page, can be changed
and the big size photos can also be displayed as posters.
