Sabionetta-re adapting an historic town

SABIONETTA - RE ADAPTING AN HISTORIC TOWN

This project deals with a common phenomenon in recent years, where young people from small provincial historic towns in Italy are leaving those towns in search of jobs and other opportunities, leaving behind a mostly elderly population and thus creating a situation in which the towns appear empty and lifeless. Situations like these make such places, despite their authentic features and historic value, unattractive to tourists and new residents alike.
The project's main purpose is to give a face-lift to the town of Sabionetta, focusing on the main town square (converted in time to a parking lot) using traditional materials and presenting new elements to make the square relevant to modern times, while still preserving its 16th century charm.
