I co-founded a start-up kitchenware brand in 2015 called 'Kitchen Kulture', our team in collaboration with the brilliant Kamini Pather (2013 MasterChef South Africa) brought out a debut range of pans and a wok that was launched in 2017 in over 127 retail stores across South Africa and into Africa by GAME stores which is part of the MassMart group(now owned by Walmart).
This first range of cookware from the Kitchen Kulture brand was made in Italy in close collaboration with Kamini and the Kitchen Kulture team. I am especially proud of this brand, as aside from coming up with the name for it, I conceptualised the logo and icon as well.
Our manufacturing partner in Italy, leader in cookware coating technology, also allowed us creative liberty in ensuring that our brand received tasteful prominence on the side, and on the underneath of the pans, allowing us to disrupt the aesthetic norm. My partner and I, see the 'Kitchen Kulture' brand as one that is inspired by collaboration locally and globally, with personalities that fit our creative vision, and bring their own character to our future product ranges.
