‘Illuminated Glass’ is an interactive art experience that reimagines the traditional art of stained glass. The heart of the installation features a 4 panel box made with transparent screens and mirrors. A generative art system plays across the screens, appearing at first like modern stained glass. Light shines through the art, letting colored light into the experience.

The film serves as a visual record of the ideation process, and visual experimentation that went into creating the Illuminated Glass installation. The effects were all captured in-camera using transparent LCD screens with natural sunlight as the only light source. The titles begin a simple stained glass window panel, and end with the final cathedral-like box that conference attendees were invited to experience themselves.

The installation at FITC provided an added twist on stained glass. When music plays, the colors and shapes on the screens shift and expand - changing beams of light streaming through it. The resulting ethereal experience imagines a future where a stained glass window could respond to the color, sound, light and even the participants surrounding it.
