Expression in ink

Expression in ink is a book about modern expressive calligraphy, or more accurate, contemporary calligraphy in fine art and Calligraffiti. The style which fuses calligraphy and graffiti. These two very different ways of doing calligraphy are compared and analysed to find similarities, differences and how they approach expressiveness. By doing this, I try to answer the following questions: What makes Calligraphy Expressive? What choices and techniques can we see being used to communicate to the audience? In what way are different artists incorporating their style and personality into their work, making it a unique and personal piece of art?
In this project I have mostly used my own calligraphy, but there is also some examples of artists I appreciate included on some of the pages. These are separated from the rest by the size and style in which they are displayed.
