Storycorps and the Art of Listening
StoryCorps is a non-profit with a mission to preserve and share humanity's stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world.
"We do this to remind one another of our shared humanity, to strengthen and build the connections between people, to teach the value of listening, and to weave into the fabric of our culture the understanding that everyone's story matters. At the same time, we are creating an invaluable archive for future generations."

I believe that we build the most authentic and meaningful relationships with one another through storytelling, no matter our differences.
"You're never really done for, as long as you've got a good story and someone to tell it to."
-The Legend of 1900
The concept of this PSA is to promote their ideology through the art of listening.

Development Frames, 1

This project was done for Kinetic Typography in the Savannah College of Art and Design under the guidance of Professor Duff Yong. In this project, we were encouraged to design and animate a 30 second Public Service Announcement for a non-profit of our choice, whose cause particularly resonated with our personal beliefs
With this in mind, i chose Storycorps, whose founder David Isay's TED talk i found profoundly inspiring. I was reminded of a love for storytelling which i shared with my best friend and english lecturer in high school, where we laboured to independently publish compilations of short stories written by my peers. To this day, those book projects have always been my favourite collaboration experiences. This love has only grown, and i am glad that i am now able to express it in many different ways.
The challenge of this class is to design in such a way that the typography is the hero in every frame. I love illustrating to what i hear, so minimizing on illustrations so as to not overpower the text was a great personal challenge to me. I'm happy with the result, and glad that i have discovered the means of controlling the needs of a design.

On the second round of design, i decided on using the color palette of Storycorps' website. i also reduced certain illustrative elements to give the design a lighter, more translucent feeling.
