Relaunch Media Installation “Chinese Room“

Arguably one of the highlights of every tour through Schloss Dyck is the impressive silk wall covering dating from the 18th century you will find in the “Chinese Room“. Here, on 24 vertical strips of wallpaper, the Schloss Dyck trust presents scenes of ancient Chinese everyday working life that revolve around the main export goods china, tea, rice and silk.

Four interactive terminals serve to explain the richly detailed scenes to visitors. On the occasion of the touch screen application’s relaunch, R211 – Agentur für Kommunikation developed an up-to-date, functional screen that allows visitors to navigate by analogy with the coverings on the wall. To find a long-term software solution was both a requirement and a challenge. Cooperating with KediCom, we successfully implemented a technical solution that combines a browser in kiosk mode with web site and game engine.
