The Futurological Congress :: Set Design

:: Idea ::
The book "The Futurological Congress" presents a world that doesn't differ from ours in the beginning of the novel. But sooner or later one realizes that in fact nothing is what it seems to be. Similar to the world of Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" medicals are manipulating the perception (or rather non- perception) of reality.

:: Realisation ::
The set design of "The Futurological Congress" ought to have a disturbing impact hidden underneath its brilliant face. The real and the surreal part of the world are drifting apart, so the two have to be made of different materials and to vary in style.
What is perceived as the real world will be designed in clear, brilliant 3D while the apparently surreal part of the set will appear in bleak, gloomy 2D (mostly film footage). The 2D-3D-composition is scheduled to be arranged by the use of tracking.
