I started out with pages of sketches for vases. As I drew, I noticed that I was drawn to the vase with a hole at the base. Yet it wasn't until I was dissatisfied with my progress that I went back to investigate why I liked that design. I figured out that the hole in the base lifted up the plant in such a way that it felt uplifting, light, and airy. There is something magical about objects that float against the power of gravity that attracts us. My final concepts relate to this idea.
For these concept drawings, I experimented with hand drawing, photo-manipulation, and special effects to create quick, semi-realistic renderings.
My mood board investigates organic forms and curves; the parts of plants that are usually overlooked or hidden; and a clean, polished aesthetic.
