"ON THE SHOOTING LINE (in seven pieces)" is a free standing sculptural assemblage which references my ten years pursuing the discipline of world-level target archery. The form anchors itself on a nervous wiring, laying descriptive marks upon the mental and physical space of standing at the proverbial "shooting line." There are simultaneous assertions of confidence and uncontrollable doubt, compounded by the impending pressure to execute... an interior competition between what is hardwired and rote alongside something else, external and extremely vulnerable. This work is an earnest reflection of my hidden rhythms, and that tightened feeling of knowing both exactly and, perhaps, hardly at all.
