 London Olympics 2012 Re-Design Campaign

These set of three posters will be uniquely identifiable for the campaign of raising the awareness of the London Olympics in 2012. If the audience was to view one of the posters, then another at a later date- they will be instantly recognisably linked, as all three posters won’t be intended to be viewed together in all one place.

The poster designs are significantly influenced by the contemporary logo feel of the logo alike, and somewhat share some similarities. I intended the posters to be quite ‘futuristic’ showing what Britain and the rest of the world could be like in 2012. The posters feature an athlete in an Exo-Skeleton (Evolution of the body) format, posing in various positions on each poster; this was tied in with the theme of my A2 project at College, regarding ‘a journey’, where the journey of an athlete is shown before the race, during the race, and after the race. Further endorsing the ‘journey’ feel, is that the background of the posters, where the athlete is shown beginning on rocky landscape, to rural landscape, to an arena (thus representing a rise from ‘lower class’ to a ‘higher class’ in terms of athlete position).
The first poster is based on the idea of an athlete in the beginning position of the race, where the runner is about to set off on the sound of the pistol. The journey is potrayed throughout each poster, which the Athlete running with the batton in his hand in the second poster. Finally in the third and last poster, the Athlete is shown to be holding a British Union Jack flag, representing that he has won the race.
