Exhibition Concept /

“When work is a pleasure, life is a joy. When work is a duty, life is slavery!”—Maxim Gorky, Father of Soviet Literature.

A working environment that is fun, stylish, and pleasurable may inspire and trigger unlimited ideas and passion; on the other hand, it may be a place that consumes energy and accumulates negative energy. Thus, has creating a happy working environment and establishing creative lifestyle become a benefit or necessity? Changing the spatial atmosphere can influence the way a person or a team works, and can even shape principles and corporate culture; in addition to satisfying visual sensation, the space can constantly remind us of why we work and what we are jointly working towards. Artbank Taiwan has tailored for all people, who are working hard to realize our dreams, a unique art space full of fun, inspiring infinite working energy through wild imaginations of art.

This exhibition features 17 exciting works of contemporary Taiwanese art; combining situational working spaces, we propose seven themes: “When Work is a Pleasure,…,” “Inspiration comes after Distraction?” “The more unorganized, the more creative?” “Healthy Brain Exercise,” “You are not just Drinking Coffee, You are Drinking Connection,” “Eureka—Sentence-Making Wall,” and “Pick Me! Pick me!The Little Things at Work,” hoping to trigger resonance from audience to discover the 7 types of happiness at work together.

“When Work is a Pleasure,…”
Change the way you think when you are at work, and you may see things differently? If we could face work and life with a different mindset, we may change the way we have always thought and worked, or even our judgement, and thus overcome current dilemma.

“Inspiration comes after Distraction?”
According to Harvard psychologist: “Occasional distraction can stimulate creativity.” When you are distracted, you generate blank thoughts that pause the train of thought, allowing you to exit the state of inefficient stagnation.

“The more unorganized, the more creative?”
“If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, of what, then, is an empty desk a sign?”—Albert Einstein. Any environment reflects the user’s state of mind; perhaps a cluttered desk full of inspirations is the source for breaking through conventions and creating new horizons.

“Healthy Brain Exercise”
In modern life, stresses have hampered our thinking, and unchanging habits often slow down our thoughts; furthermore, our reliance on rapid and convenient digital tools has stripped us of opportunities to think. Over time, our thoughts have been slowed and hampered. If we do not constantly remind ourselves of such danger, we might just become moving tools.

“You are not just Drinking Coffee, You are Drinking Connection”
Cases only come after you talk to people. Are you working in the office or just having coffee? It is actually both. In a coffee-shop-like working space, we create connections and build mutual-helping community; we are not just drinking coffee, we are drinking connection. You may discover infinite possibility through random chatting, giving new meaning to social space.

“Eureka—Sentence-Making Wall”
Be creative, and finish the sentence “When work is a pleasure,…” Share your thoughts on work and pleasure, post it on the wall.

“Pick Me! Pick Me! The Little Things at Work” Voting Wall
Refer to your own experience and vote on the various thoughts on work. From the results of the voting, let’s find out the current working status and situation of participants!
