Browning M2 Machine Gun ring

Browning M2 machine gun ring

The Browning M2 machine gun was developed by John Browning shortly after World War 1, and is the longest serving machine gun in the United States military. Its powerful .50 BMG round is effective against infantry, light-armored vehicles, and low-flying aircraft, and its reliable design has been adopted by several other countries across the world.

I want the experience of this ring to place the wearer into the position of a soldier forced to make a choice. This rifle is an important piece of Military history, but it also an important tool within the dynamics of war. When you wear the ring, you are the operator of this machine. You are fighting for your own life, but most importantly your country. The soldier is the deciding factor for whoever is on the other side; you point, aim, and eliminate the threat to further your country’s course towards victory.

The ring design was digitally created through Rhino 3D modeling software, then outsourced through shapeways 3D printing services. The print was used to cast the final ring in brass, which came from spent bullet casings.
