For the first year and a half after I graduated from Binghamton University I worked at my hometown weekly newspaper, The Sullivan Review. There I wrote a variety of articles by researching human interest pieces, such as a street being renamed for a late, local business owner; political coverage of the monthly commissioners' meetings; and spotlights on businesses. Highlights included: updating readers about the career advancements of a local boy who appeared on American Idol, covering the devastating aftermath of a severe flood, writing a series of articles covering the history of the 160-year-old Sullivan County Fair and conducting interviews with former students about the history of consolidated elementary school.
