D Composition illustrates the process of decay inan animal, in this case a raccoon, including the breakdown of tissues bybacteria and fungi. Scavengers, such as fleshflies and blowflies, play acrucial role in decomposition, as do larger scavengers like the raven, whichmay eat a body. Through this process the animal is absorbed back into theEarth, contributing to the development of new life. D Composition was included in the “ScientificAesthetics” exhibition at Altered Esthetics in Minneapolis, and was chosen topromote the show.
