Atomic 29 Sculptural Letterforms
The copper pipe sculptures from which the Atomic 29 typeface is derived. The initial prototype letterform sculptures were modular and could be altered. Letters could be taken apart and reformed to produce the 26 letter alphabet in two design directions (the slab serif, valence meant to be a script font with redox as an option where the letters are not interconnected) with the punctuation. These letters were photographed and the images used to produce the posters, type-specimen book, and other collateral. Twenty-two were then permanently formed as the letters of the valence direction as sculptural pieces.
