Community Starts Here was a campaign to raise property taxes to provide needed funding for the Basalt Regional Library. The organizers recognized that in order for the ballot measure to succeed in the election, the campaign needed a strong visual identity and clear, consistent message. Shayla developed the brand platform and communications strategy for the political campaign. She designed informational collateral such fact sheets and bookmarks to educate voters. Branded buttons, lawn signs, and storefront window posters were also created to help spread the message. Shayla launched a website, managed a Facebook page, and designed an email newsletter to keep the community informed. The ballot question won soundly with more than 60% of voters in support of the property tax increase to to provide additonal library funding.
