Self Portrait of a Mind

What is a person if not his mind? The physical body is full of change - every day thousands of cells die to give way to new ones. In the midst of the river of change, one thing remains faithfully constant - our minds.

My piece represents a city of memories, showcasing a journey of a man from life to death. Throughout the journey, we can observe some of his most important memories- learning, working, love, and even death.

The isometric perspective suggests that the city exists on an infinite plane, reflecting the limitless capacity of our minds. Our minds are not perfect, and sometimes they play tricks on us. Some of the mind structures are geometrically impossible to recreate, but that’s the way our minds tick - warping and contorting memories, even those that you think are indisputable.

Lastly, as we look at all these memories and moments as a whole, we are able to recognise overall shape which the memories form - a portrait of a man, an identity.
Initial Sketch was done in Photoshop before vectorising in Illustrator.
