The characters were “sampled” from Emigre’s Missionary (designed by Miles Newlyn in 1991) into constituent parts and then reconstituted. These reconstituted characters were in turn, inspired by arabesque forms, which, like flowers, are mathematically precise, aesthetically pleasing, and imbued with symbolism.
