The brief of this project was part of 2017 Penguin Book Cover Competition - Children's Fiction.
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4 is a hilarious juvenile book set on the 80', which still appeal to both new and older generations. The concept of a bust with spots is a play with the main character's projection of himself -- a know-it-all -- with his own age and limits. The bright blue contrasts with the sobery of the grayscale, also expressing that overall this is a young boy's book.
