Reduce Meat Consumption
Background
Many people love meat. The link between meat consumption and climate change, however, is less obvious. A sixth of our personal carbon footprint comes from eating meat (including production, transportation and consumption). A 2006 United Nations report found that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gas emissions than all motor vehicles in the world combined.

Objective
The objective of this project is to raise awareness on the importance, possibility and sustainability of reducing meat consumption with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and protecting the environment and the planet. Through this campaign, it is hoped that we are able to educate and encouraging people to do their part to reduce environmental problems.

The Issues
It is undeniable that meat is an important component of most people’s diets as a source of protein. However at the same time, many people are not aware of the environmental problems and effects associated with meat consumption. The objective of this campaign is not to totally alter dietary habits and stop the eating of meat. Rather, this campaign is aimed at raising awareness about the negative environmental impact of meat production and consumption, as well as suggesting possible practices involving small changes to one’s diet and slight reduction of meat consumption, which can have large effects and go a long way towards solving environmental problems.

Solution
It is clear that one of the main contributing factors of global warming is food production, in particular livestocks. The more the amount of meat we eat, the more livestocks we need to be grow and kill. As a result, higher levels and amounts of methane gas is released that is harmful to the earth.

Thus, one potential solution will be to increase public awareness of the problem through campaigns aimed at reducing meat consumption. The purpose of organizing the campaign is to educate the general public and raise awareness and understanding of the problems and impact of meat consumption, as well as possible solutions and other alternative practices which may be adopted.

Concept
Meatnimize is a play on the word ‘minimize’. The campaign is about reducing meat consumption in order to save the earth and reduce the effects of global warming. The word “REDUCE” is the key word of the campaign name which have a synonym of minimize, which also encourages individuals to “minimize” the consumption of meat.
