1. All About Me Collage
Using around 20-30 photos that represent me, we placed them messily around the canvas like it's been scattered across the table. We used the lasso and eraser too to give the effect that it was cut with a shaky hand. After we used the drop shadow tool to give shading effect like there was actual light on top of it.
2. Anatomy of Typeface
Rough Copy:
Imitating the Times New Roman font, we wrote out our names. We identified each part of the letter as a rough copy.
Using Adobe Illustrator to make the good copy, we identified each part of the letters in our names. With the knife tool, we cut each part of the letter and used the eyedropper tool to keep the colour consistent. For the background we pasted our names over and over again with a lower opacity. I found the knife tool hard to use since it was my first time with it.
3. Thumbnail
With help of the elliptical marquee tool and the clipping mask tool and nature in mind, I made the thumbnail for graphics. At first it was going to be solid colour but I changed it because it was too dull.
4. Clipping Mask
Using the font, Impact, I typed out the names of characters and relevant words to the series, Love Live! With the clipping mask tool we were able to type the words out with a picture within it. I found it difficult to find the font again when I worked on it again.
5. T-Shirt Design
Rough Copy
With the designing process of this design, it was really difficult to grasp the concept I personally wanted. Therefore I went with a simple design with the brush tool. I found it very hard to choose variations of this one design.
With the mock-up version of my design, I placed the transparent png of it onto a picture of a man wearing a white shirt. It looks like the t-shirt has the actual design I've created.
6. T-Shirt - Super Olympian
With this t-shirt design, I had a really hard time drawing the hands because they're really hard to draw in general. Then there was the actual designing process which was also really difficult because I wanted to appeal to both females and males.
7. Digital Painting
It was difficult to find the right type of brush to shade with for this assignment which caused many delays and in the end caused me to choose the normal brush tool. These colours felt right because it was based off "Sakura Miku" who's main colour scheme is white. Base colours were hard to completely colour due to the fact that the wand tool couldn't pick up all the areas without colour that I needed that conveniently in one go.
8. Textures
Taking 10-15 photos outside of different textures, we were required to modify the hues, contrasts and saturations in Photoshop. I found it difficult to change each photo due to the fact that most of my pictures didn't follow a certain palette. After modifying each picture I found suitable, we went to InDesign and built containers that kept a strict distance that could not be changed. Thanks to the ruler tool it was easier to keep the distance the same without much difficulty.
9. Digital Painting - Sunset
I found it insanely difficult to replicate the clouds and give a shining look to the sun's glare. With Photoshop's brushes and opacity it was very hard to replicate these textures but I tried so anyway.
10. Photoshop Tutorial - Business Cards
Choosing a Photoshop tutorial of our choice, I chose a business card one that easily showed me how to create a business card. I found it difficult to get the measures right with the guides and keep switching between different units of measure, otherwise it wasn't as difficult as expected. Personally, I found it the most difficult when I had to choose what I wanted to put on my card.
