Children picture books from China

October 2016 the Chinese children's book exhibition "children picture books from China" and creative Chinese  teaching products exhibition "Chinese is really fun" organized by Confucius institute headquarters/Hanban was made their full debut at children's hall of the Frankfurt book fair. For the first time "children picture books from China" from the 500 publishers in China collected nearly one thousand kinds of picture books and made a selection of the 197 original works to display. The content of exhibition included domestic and international awarded picture books, ink & paper-cut works, new published books in last two years, Chinese early picture-story books/ comic books etc. It had so much variety and rich themes. Through text and paintings by Chinese writers and illustrators, unique Chinese picture beauty appears on the international stage.
The nature of the activities, not only to reflect the internationalization but also the nationality, at same time to be filled with children's interesting. That is the basic requirements for the exhibition design.
Through many rounds of communication with colleagues of Confucius Institute headquarters, the design team combed the creative direction and ideas. The group of experts from 197 different styles of picture books chose the ink painting in "Red Dragonfly and Green Dragonfly" and "hopscotch days" as a whole design style.
Mr. Liang Peilong's picture is always warm and soft, have thick or light Ink, slightly reddish or yellowish among them, elegant, graceful freehand style and have unique oriental taste.

The main visual illustration "windmill turn and turn around"  ist fulled with Chinese children's vision of the good things and longing for the future life, completely consistent with the theme of "children picture books from China".
But Liang’s ink painting as visual image for the book exhibition is too simple and elegant. Visual design for exhibition should have more strong colors, symbols or graphics to attract the audience's attention. In order to solve this problem, designers picked up the ink points from Liang’s paintings as the abstract elements, and strengthened the red and yellow saturation, and used with ink painting together.
In addition to the unique calligraphy font as a title, it has both Chinese flavour and children's interesting. Calligraphy, ink point and ink painting integrated perfect together.
