CanSafe Magazine Spreads

For this project I created magazine spreads for an article highlighting the importance of supporting male domestic violence shelters. The article is designed to be featured in a magazine called The Walrus, geared towards upper middle class citizens with fairly high levels of education, likely 40-60 years old.
My approach was to integrate shocking facts and statistics throughout the article to appeal to the readers empathy and logic. I believe that the best way for this issue to impact my target audience is to draw them into caring about it with the clearly unfair statistics, and then slowly transition into explanation of the problem and how they can help through the article. I also used a colour palette of dark blues and purple, encompassing the facts in those colours. So when overlaid on the photographs of the men, they appear similar to bruises to reinforce the problems illustrated by the article.
