The vibrant East London borough of Whitechapel has long been a hub for immigrants, due to its proximity to the docks. "The Sound Of My Neighborhood Whitechapel Stories", is a work by Evi Kontova, attempting to get immigrant communities to learn about each other through their own unique voices. The meaning that streets, buildings, and locations hold for locals is then explained.
The voices came from the oral history archives of several London museums and libraries, as well as personal interviews conducted for the project. The book is split in two, with one-half dedicated to written stories, and the other to the audio transcripts.

The project was awarded the Community Voices Award by Media Trust and won the 3rd Enterprising Award from the UAL, and was funded by Tower Hamlets Council.
