Tips for Overcoming Flight Anxiety

Less experienced travelers often find that they experience nerves before their flights. If that sounds like you, keep these tips in mind to overcome your anxiety.

1. Try to distract yourself, especially as the plane is preparing for take-off or landing. Grab a book or start listening to some music to keep your mind off what is happening around you.

2. Don’t feel as though you need to hide your anxieties. Mention to attendants that you are uneasy and you will often find that they offer extra support through the more difficult periods of the flight. 

3. Focus on regulating your breathing by taking deep, calm breaths. If you do start to panic, the sickness bag you are provided with can be used to prevent hyperventilation.
