"The Crystal Goblet" is an essay about typography written by Beatrice Warde.
The body text is arranged into two columns to increase readability and legibility. Font Minion Pr0 is used to give the book a classical style as well as to save space. Images of nature and transparent glasses are chosen to echo the purpose of this essay that printing should be invisible. (Image credits are on the last page of the book.)
Since every page is connected to its previous page and next page, no staple or thread is needed to bind the book. Thus, the book has no fixed shape, which means readers can unfold many different pages at the same time if they want. In this way, readers are encouraged to focus on the content instead of the form of the book.
