FanimeCon 2012 Campaign

Background
FanimeCon is a Japanese culture convention that occurs annually over Memorial Day Weekend in San Jose. It brings over 20,000 international attendees, and is Northern California’s largest event of this type. As head of the illustration team in 2005, I designed five characters that would move forward as FanimeCon’s official mascots. Each year, the event’s theme changes – the characters’ personal details remain the same for continuity, but the costumes, graphics and environment change to suit the new theme each year.
“Sports” was chosen for 2012′s theme, and I developed character costume concepts centered around a tie-in to the Olympics due later in the summer. The characters had two sets of costumes, one team uniform and one based on their sport of choice.
In 2012, I worked as Associate Creative Director, developing the theme brand and leading a team of artists and designers to execute the promotional graphics that would advertise the event and set the tone for attendees. These products varied from digital social media graphics to environmental graphics, as shown above.
