VFS 4 Day Session || "In Front Of & Behind The Camera"

VFS Session "In Front & Behind The Scenes"
Reflection:

This workshop is one of my favorites that I've participated. Rondel Reynoldson and Missy Cross were engaging as intructors to this workshop and that's something I really liked. On the first day, we were doing acting exercises. Along with the drama class we were paired with we were given a line and the goal was trying to say the line in different ways. This exercise really loosened everyone up before acting. I felt nervous as I've never acted in many projects so doing it in front of a lot of people was one of the challenging parts.
On Day 2, we started casting for our characters, Eli and Caroline. During this process, we reviewed all the auditions for the two roles. Ultimately, we found two outstanding actors for our short film.
Along with this, we did more acting exercises to help the crew understand were to place our actors and how our actors are supposed to act in front of the camera. As Day 3 started we started to film our characters in front of the camera. Using areas around the school, we were in the theater in the stairwell. We filmed our story's climax, showing the actors how the directors wanted them to act. The sound was not the greatest because of the heaters buzzing. Overall, as a group, we managed to do our job and showed our actors what do to. As the day arrived we were presenting our footage to the drama class and the digital voices class. We showed what footage we collected over the course of the workshop and personally, I think we did well. Missy and Rondel had little nitpicks to point out at us for when we shoot this film for real. Our main female lead shined the brightest as her acting was outstanding! I believe we made the right choice for the role of Caroline. Missy and Rondel also went through everyone's footage and gave their feedback. It was very insightful as they've been on professional filmshoots, so they know what they were talking about. The other groups footage were amazing aswell and the actors were great in their roles. One of the challenges I faced during this workshop were the limited amount of time we given to film our shots. At the end of the day, Missy and Rondel were one of the best instructors from a workshop that I've experienced. I hope they come back for another workshop!!
