Background
The company BA Vidro is the leading company in its sector in Portugal and had always been concerned with the environment, focusing also on innovation. As a company that operates in the market for a century, it has been accompanying the changes of the market and its evolution. As so, BA Vidro felt it was a good opportunity to bet in young talents as a way to give dinamism to the brand.
The Challenge
To point out the centenary of the company, BA Vidro wanted to reframe an already existing design competition they had and give it a new light. Therefore, challenged us to present a proposal for a brand creation that:
· Would be associated to the image of BA Vidro
· Would have potnential to grow independently.
· Had capacity to generate partnerships
· Recreated the competition and made it broader.
The Solution
To address what was proposed to us by BA Vidro, we defined that the core objectif of the brand would have to be that its image is inspirational for the designers who will apply. So, we went for an innovative and visionary concept..From this stand point, we created a strong naming that was the whole basis of the project.
The will of transmitting novelty and innovation, without forgetting the ecological concerns, led us to the creation of the name Glassberries - Design Awards.
This name was created taking into account two perspectives: First, the solid roots of the company, its sustainable development and its environmental concern, which led us to the idea of the tree that bears fruits. Secondly, the association between creation and generation of ideas by the designers, we came up with the concept “Fruto da tua Imaginação” Hence, we joined the glass with the berries and thus created the brand.
For the creation of the symbol we used the graphic elements of the brand BA Vidro (the circumferences), as well asthe very shape of berries, to create a stylized bottle, representative of the company's core business and of the competition itself.
We were also responsible for the development of the communication materials, such as the presentations of the competition, regulation, roll-ups, banners, trophies, diplomas, etc.
Regarding the brand strategy, we proposed to BA Vidro that the competition takes a step forward towards internationalisation each year.. The idea is tostart the contest, first at a national level, then European level and finally worldwide. We believe that the internationalisation process allows the award to become a reference in its sector.
