Linescapes
A fast car in a poorly designed transportation infrastructure will still lose out to a slow car in an efficiently designed infrastructure. Research into mobility revealed that a ?mode? is the very vehicle of mobility. It is a transportation service, means of relocation of persons, goods and information on foot, by car, train or planes. Thus modes are a measure of the relative wealth of a society expressed in its infrastructural ?linescapes?.

For the pedestrian, these includes pavements, walkways, footpaths, escalators and elevators, whilst in the scenario of automobiles, linescapes visualise and materialise as streets, highways and motorways. While not all modal lines could be seen, all can be traced and mapped. For instance, taking the example of planes, airline flight paths are
invisible trajectories.

These multi-linear trajectories are from a combination of modes according to the spatial economics of journey planning and time trading, whilst journeys comprised of points A to B, forming lines that constitutes networks. And as such, mobility?s multidimensionality suggests a matrix, an array of coordinates, forming today?s cities linescapes.

Outcomes
_An animation of moving flight patterns through a 24 hour time frame, using moving dots to show the reach-ability of Singapore?s flight environment.
_Series of poster depicting Singapore?s flight patterns, day and night, to and fro.
_A book depicting the flight patterns of Singapore, using transparency and flight information.
