A modular cookbook
The 'Voedselbank' (foodbank) gets a lot of publicity lately. There is a lot going on, because of the crisis a lot more people are depending on the help of the foodbanks. But also less food is left over to give away.
While doing my research I found out that there were a few problems that the clients of the foodbank have to cope with.
The people coming for their foodpackage often didn't know what to do with the weird combinations of food in the package. Also some products and their properties were unfamiliar to clients. And last but not least, some products have to be consumed quickly because they're close to- or on their expiration date.
My solution to this problem was to create a 'modular' cookbook.
The visual style was based on the weird combinations of food the clients of the foodbank deal with. This resulted in collages that are somewhat strange, but appetizing at the same time.
To collect all these recipes I created a silkscreened binder with tabs. The binder consists of over 80 recipes based on the ingredients the foodbank had week by week last year. The recipes are categorized by price, this way clients can 'shop smart' even when they don't have to go to the foodbank anymore.

I created a wall with little containers, filled with on one side preprinted cards. On the other side the foodbank can print their recipes. There are also 'information cards' wich hold properties and information about specific products. This way the foodbank can give their clients foodpackage, and a recipepackage that is customized for the ingredients of that week.
