A varied example of my work over the years
This is an example of past work projects that involved retail design, sign design, logo design. It represents the varied works I have done over the 40 years as a designer. This is just a small sample of images that show the diversity of design.
I was the chief designer for World 4 Kids for Coles Myer a toy chain super store roll out. My role was to come up with the ideas and name...the name WORLD 4 KIDS was a play i created on the opposition which was TOYS R US.
The stores where rolled out in a massive $150M project lasting some 24 months, I wanted it to be a megastore for kids a place of fantasy and excitement but this was squashed by the Kmart team who thought differnet. The stores are no longer around as a result. The toy market was not big enough for 2 main players.
CD store design for Noumea in New Caledonia in the 90's hence the sign names, was a difficult project as the builders were French and could not read English?
The plans had to be translated.
I Photoshoped this over the Carrington Hotel in North Melbourne as a concept to an of a Montana Ranch as an idea of a refurbishment, scheme was considered too costly for client and was shelved.
Many early designs dating back to the 80's, note the concept for Kentucky Fried Chicken.... this idea was put forward and the answer came back it was too radical a design for the company....look at the KFC stores of today, I think I was on the right tram way back then but they weren't ready for such a change.
