Interior Design
The new theatre ‘de Maaspoort’ in Venlo │ part 1 the renovation
Theatre ‘de Maaspoort’ is soon to be a new and contemporary theatre complex. During the extensive metamorphism of the theater are in the first stage, all the public areas, the large theatre hall, the facade and the offices renovated. There is also a contemporary new Brasserie named Pollux. In the second phase an extra theatre hall, foyer and restaurant with outdoor terrace will be realized. September 2013 is expected to be in the complete renovation and construction of Theater ‘de Maaspoort’ operational.

For the renovated theater located on the banks of the river Maas, M + R interior architecture used this important lifeline for the city Venlo as inspiration;
Where the broad stream der Maas … .., the banks, the cove, the theatre; the gateway to art and culture; reflection, emotion, surprise and wonder, the stage of the city. The images of boulders, boats, jetties are used as a metaphor for the Interior of the renovated theater. The Interior is predominantly warm white with purple accents composed of natural sustainable materials. The design is inspired upon water and shipping elements, such as the bars. The mobile benches are for instance designed as small boats which are docked. In the foyers here and there are boulders brought by the river. The floor is like a wooden Jetty on the embankment surrounded by running water.
