Too often our society writes off and dehumanizes the ones we also silence. Without a chance to defend themselves, Undocumented Immigrants continue to work for a better life under the radar here in America. A majority of this very small minority come to America with the honest and innocent desire to survive and provide for their families. When presented with the brief for this social change project, I decided to present the truths that are opposite of what was said about Undocumented Immigrants during the 2016 election cycle. I wanted to disprove the lies being spread about innocent human beings that hold the desire for a better life.

I created these posters & post cards for this social change campaign keeping in mind the severity of the subject. With the need to be as delicate as possible, while still communicating the message correctly, I decided to take the most welcoming and empathetic route possible. I knew from the start that I did not want to commodify the suffering that Undocumented Immigrants experience, meaning I did not want to use imagery that depicted the unethical conditions they live within. Instead, I decided to use uniquely American symbols associated with the topic that each poster presents. The colors & typography were chosen as a device to calmly communicate these messages without threatening other viewpoints, as most people this campaign is trying to persuade feel animosity toward anyone not deemed "normal" or "American" by their standards.
