This was a self-initiated brief after exploring the typography around my hometown in Portugal. My hometown feels rather traditional and this can be seen not only how the community is but particularly with the signage and way finding. 

Traditional way finding particularly in my district with the town of Viseu, is rather common to see marble slabs that have been chiseled with the road name. It gives a rather traditional and handmade finish to the product and is definitely something that can be seen throughout towns in Portugal. 

Digitalising this style and creating a font for my town I feel is the first steps for expanding this idea and potentially taking in the footsteps of EduardoAires (formally known as White Studio) with the rebrand of the identity of Porto.

This project is still definitely in a work in progress and I feel that with each visit to my town, I will get inspired to evolve the font and apply it within the vicinity to hopefully portray Viseu as a more digitalised city while embracing all of the traditional features.
