Nutrient Explorer is an interactive application to explore USDA's food database. It contains nutritional data of more than 7,000 different foods, fresh and processed. The whole database is loaded in memory, allowing fast navigation and filtering by nutrient, food, and name.
Nutrients can be selected from the list on the left. Upon nutrient selection, all food containing that nutrient are plotted in a radial chart where radial position is used to group items by category (meat, vegetables, pork, processed food...), and radius represents concentration of the selected nutrient. A simple text input allows filter by name as well.
