The Halifax Distilling Company is an independent distillery that continues a 130 year-old family tradition of crafting fine spirits. For their Summer 2016 opening, the company needed a brandmark, as well as product labels for their four signature blends of rum: Gold, Spiced, Black, and White. These labels bear the name of co-owner and Master Distiller Julie Shore, celebrating her family legacy and conveying a sense of “Maritime-made” through custom illustrations.
MONOGRAM
Initially, we were asked to design a monogram for HDC. The design was taken from concept to completion, and approved for production. The project continued with the design of the rum labels, and a concept was developed that featured line-art illustrations. A small floating barrel was a component of the illustrated artwork, and ultimately the client chose to use the barrel for the HDC brandmark, instead of the monogram.
