MMetro. Music festival

MMetro is an innovative experimental music festival at the Moscow subway (called “Metro” in Russian).

Concept of the festival:
Multiple venues. Multiple music genres. Unusual atmosphere. Unique moments.
A subway is an attribute of the large cities inhabited by myriads of people. Megalopolises are inclined towards spiritual impoverishment. Music is here to change it.
The festival is held at night time. In daylight city lives a casual life while the night is the time when all the miracles happen.

Preconcept:
Millions of people use subway every day. This place became ordinary and unremarkable for us, we use it solely as a mode of transportation. But subway is alive and unique. Subway is a city inside a city. It’s a whole world functioning by its own rules. It’s full of sounds and rhythms. It is constantly in motion.

Acoustics in the Metro is fantastic due to its architecture. We can think of its stations as unconventional concert halls. They are asking to be filled with music.

The goal of the festival:
The goal of the festival is to make people notice the soul of the city. Encourage city dwellers to pause and take a fresh look at ordinary things. To see what’s hidden in the very heart of the city. To hear it.

The Metro as a unique space needs a fresh inspiration and a new interpretation - Music needs new spaces, new levels and new ways to reach out - People need new amazing experiences.
