POWA (People Opposing Women Abuse) is a charity organization that helps abused women start new lives.

During 16 Days of Activism, an international initiative against gender violence, we launched an online campaign
via Pinterest.
The aim of the campaign was to target more affluent women who might not know about POWA or
how to contact them.

We created 16 custom-designed pins.
At first glance, these pins appeared to be typical mantras about love and relationships - mantras women often use
to justify why they stay in an abusive relationship.

But, once clicked on, each pin expanded to reveal a hidden message from POWA.
Each message spoke to a specific reason why women stay in abusive relationships - e.g financial, religious,
for the sake of the children, etc.

All of our pins linked straight to the Contact Us page on the POWA website, where women could submit a simple form.
They were then immediately put in touch with a POWA counsellor.
